I was wondering about this funcitonality myself. Several of us use XFire and it would be really nice to have info like location. If we see someone in a mission, hey, don't interrupt them. If they're in a staging area, hey do you need help?

Well I got all the game map IDs encoded for him. I think he is just waiting till after he is done with finals this week to finish the program...

If your wondering why, it has a lot to do with the recent influx of gold sellers on xfire abusing the system. While we have a working system now that does what this thread describes above... Both the original coder and all his assistants have agreed its not worth releasing while the larger community is getting abused with Spam bombardment... And this would only serve to assist those people abusing the system to find and harass those victims further in game...

Sorry mate. It will be a while before this goes out to the public under these circumstances.

Xfire support for the game would also add free advertising aswell...

This would be a great addition to both the ingame friends list AND guild list aswell asto xfire

Currently xfire is now (like Gamespy) supporting games and giving free advertising, and that would aid Guild Wars even more as more new blood to the game is a good thing

On the Harassment issue, theres two very simple things to do...

1. Block the person, and 2, report the abuse to xfire, they've always sorted issues out really quickly when I've emailed them
